There is a real fight happening right now over the future of Vail Resorts. Oasis Management has built a stake of roughly 6.5%, converted its filing to a 13D, and nominated a board slate that includes Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street and former Disney CEO Robert Chapek, alongside financier M. Ashton Hudson and venture investor Bryce Roberts. In that 13D, Oasis calls Vail’s 42 resorts an “irreplaceable portfolio” and says it may explore or propose a review or sale of the company or some of its resorts.
